![]() This is a major problem and why I'm still looking at Tenon's iTools for upgrading my other servers. Unlike CommuniGate, there doesn't seem to be any way for users to manage their own account settings, not mail, ftp, web or otherwise. Why can't someone make something as elegant as the old OpenWebMail? This is a Mac! I very disappointed about the reliability issues with 10.4.2+Postifix/Cyrus as it now stands.Īs far as web mail goes, SquirrelMail is only slightly better looking than Communigate's ugly interface. I'm running Panther Server on several other servers (without Mail) and they have been very reliable. This is completely unacceptable, so if a fix doesn't appear soon I'll be looking for a new mail server. The SPAM and VIrus filters are working effortlessly as wellīUT I AM HAVING MANY RUNAWAY MAIL PROCESSES, that mean I need to continually monitor the server and kill all of them every 8~12 hours or so. ![]() The mail itself works well and it's easy to "randomly" assign user accounts to email addresses. Over the past week I've installed about 25 users on my Xserve. I'm quite upset with their recent upgrade policies though, so I doubt I will ever upgrade.Īs I'm sure you are aware, the Tiger Server version os Postfix/Cyrus is the first version that could be really considered for use in a multi-domain environment. I used to run it on a G3, but these days I'm have a 200 seat server that runs fantastically on a 800MHz PIII. I've been using CommunigatePro for years. I don't have a definitive answer for you just yet, but I'm a bit ahead of you on this so I'll relay my thoughts so far. I welcome any feedback you have to offer, regarding these specific questions, or any other comparisons of the latest version of Tiger's email solution and latest version of CommuniGate Pro. Is it possible to use MAPI with the Tiger setup? We are looking for something that will integrate in with Outlook for contacts and calendar. Can I give certain users the ability to manage only the users in their domain on the Tiger setup? Domainkeys and SPF (there are postfix implementations for both), how hard they are to setup I'm not sure. Would be one less add-on to the clutter the server. Would avoid the cost to buy a new license for the latest version of CommuniGate, and unlimited users. Has built-in spam and virus protection, solutions for CommuniGate are aftermarket and costly. ![]() Reasons Tiger's email solution looks promising: It has a domainkey filter (signs and verifies for all domains) and the newer versions of CommuniGate Pro have the ability to SPF check. Current license limits us to 25 accounts. It handles mail for a couple domains, and certain users have the ability to manage the users in their domain. I have already purchased Tiger Server, and now I'm deciding between the built in email solution or buying a new license for the latest version of CommuniGate Pro. Currently I have a Mac OS 10.2.8 server with a somewhat dated version of CommuniGate Pro (4.0.x). ![]()
